About

Globally, immunisation saves millions of lives every year – people of all ages are living longer and have healthier lives. In Australia, immunisation represents the basis for a healthy population – minimising hospitalisations, reducing costs associated with lost working hours, keeping children at school and protecting the most vulnerable in the community. Australia is very fortunate to have a comprehensive National Immunisation Program that provides free vaccines to children, adolescents, older Australians and people with underlying health conditions.

Unfortunately, when individuals choose not to vaccinate, others are put at risk for serious vaccine-preventable diseases regardless of age.

The Immunisation Coalition has recently released a white paper on Enhancing Adult Vaccination Coverage Rates in Australia.
