The Immunisation Coalition (IC) is calling on Australian Muslims to get their booster shot against COVID-19. The current immunisation rate for 3rd doses needs to be improved. At-risk people and the elderly will be much better protected after a booster dose. Currently up to a third of at-risk Muslim people (chronic medical problems) have not had their third dose.

The IC has a media kit with videos in Arabic – to get the vaccination message to Muslims in their language and communities.

“We must get compelling messages conveyed to local communities” said Professor Booy, honorary Professor, University of Sydney, Institute of Infectious Diseases. “Nearly 7,000 Australian adults have already died of COVID-19, including many this year in the Muslim community”.

The Immunisation Coalition has developed a series of short explanatory videos to help GPs and pharmacists better explain covid disease and its prevention by vaccination.

“COVID-19 is a health disaster, but it also damages the economy, family life and social life.  While Ramadan proceeds during April, it is possible for people to get vaccinated against both COVID-19 and influenza at the same time. The best way to protect yourself and your family is to get your vaccines”.

A complementary media kit contains short explanatory videos, eg the Grand Mufti getting vaccinated, other messages in Arabic.
