This is a Medicines Australia sponsored webinar to communicate to Providers and Immunisers of the 2nd Consultation Review Period for input and consideration of access to vaccines in 2024 and beyond.

Chair

Liz de Somer, Chief Executive Officer (MA)

Liz de Somer has a lifetime of experience in health care and health policy across Australia and the UK, with a core focus on improving the lives of patients.

Liz began her career in nursing spending over 10 years as an Intensive Care nurse in the front line of critical care in London and Australia. Liz has since worked across drug development, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and market access in the pharmaceutical industry. Liz is the current CEO of Medicines Australia.

Medicines Australia is focussed on advancing timely patient access to new medicines, vaccines, and emerging technologies through partnership in developing sound public health policy. Medicines Australia also ensures the highest ethical standards of the industry through administration of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.

Liz is part of several expert committees and advisory panels for the Government and university sectors. This includes past and present positions on the sub-committees to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and more recently membership on the HTA Review Reference Committee, the Ministerial Roundtable on Procurement and the Chief Medical Officer’s Advisory Group for the development of the National Health and Climate Strategy.

Dr Rodney Pearce AM

Dr Rodney Pearce AM is a country and city GP and Medical Officer of Health for the Eastern Health Authority (HA), Adelaide. 

Dr Pearce became a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on Australia Day 2012. He received the award for his long-standing service to medicine as a General Practitioner, through contributions to national medical organisations and to education.  He is the current Chair of the Immunisation Coalition

 

Dr Leanne Jones

Dr Jones is a General Practitioner at the Windmill Hill Medical Centre, Launceston and a Director of the Immunisation Coalition  (IC). 

As a GP with more than 35 years’ experience, Dr Jones has an in-depth knowledge of the health issues facing Tasmanians. 

Dr Jones was a Board Member of the General Practice North where she served for two years as its Chair, and was a Board member of General Practice Tasmania for eight years. 

She has a special interest in immunisation and sits on various immunisation advisory and reference groups. She was also the Media Advisor and GP Advisor on Immunisation, and was  the Tasmanian Medicare Local spokesperson on Immunisation.

Dr Jones graduated with a BMedSc and MBBS from the University of Tasmania. She is involved with education of General Practitioners with Primary Health Tasmania and   undergraduate medical students at the University of Tasmania.
