Immunisation Coalition Board Member

Leanne has been a GP in Launceston for over 30 years after graduating from the University of Tasmania.

As a teenager, Leanne became aware of a young girl who had been severely disabled after contracting the measles.  This sparked her life long passion to create awareness and education about vaccine preventable diseases and the benefits of vaccination. She later became a board member of GP Tasmania (previously Primary Health Tasmania) where she was awarded the role of media spokesperson on immunisation.

Leanne has been heavily involved in the education of GP’s, practice nurses, and various pharmaceutical companies for many years and is a member of the Adverse Events in Vaccination Committee in Tasmania.

Leanne states she is “delighted to see Tasmania had been one of the leading states for Covid-19 vaccine uptake despite no cases in recent months”.   For many years Tasmania has also boasted excellent childhood vaccination rates throughout the state.

Her son, when asked to provide his vaccination record recently, said “My mother’s a doctor and I’ve had every vaccine known to mankind!”

The Immunisation Coalition congratulates Leanne for her commitment to public health through vaccination on the Apple Isle and extends our thanks for her contribution as one of our valued board members.
